The always popular Japan Airlines Maintenance Factory Tour is back this term!



Take a trip out to near Haneda Airport where the factory is located and enjoy

the privilege of hearing from JAL experts at the site about how these giant jets

are kept in top flying condition.

Afterward, visit the aircraft hanger to see a plane undergoing maintenance work.

Get up close to one of these large aircraft and learn interesting facts about air travel.

Attention! Students from Korea, Taiwan and Okinawa!

Waseda University Honjo Senior High School is looking for

students from these regions who can introduce their culture

to their students before their school trips to respective places.



Unlike the usual ICC outreach program, this does not require

three-week long pair work with a Japanese student to prepare

for a lesson plan. Think of yourself as a cultural ambassador

and share information and stories about your home.



The classes consist of students who will be entering Waseda

University next year. They’re all looking forward to meeting

their future “Sempai” and finding out new information and

personal perspectives which they cannot find in their guidebooks

or on the internet about the countries they’ll be travelling to.

The beautiful streets of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius have often been

described as a “Little Rome” and with 5 national parks and 30 regional parks,

Lithuania boasts an abundance of nature. Not to mention the delicious

local cuisine! Lithuania is a Baltic country packed with many attractions!



Furthermore, during the Second World War the Japanese diplomat and former

Waseda student Sugihara Chiune helped save the lives of 6,000 Jewish refugees

in Lithuania. A commemorative monument was erected between buildings 11 and

14 at Waseda Campus to acknowledge Mr. Sugihara’s humanitarian contribution.

For this Cafe event we’ve invited the ambassador, minister,

secretary and administrative officals from the Lithuanian Embassy

in Japan.



After the ambassador has given an introduction to Lithuania there will

a traditional dance event followed by a cafe time. During the cafe time

herbal tea and Lithuanian style potato salad will be served while you chat

with Lithuanian international students and Lithuanians living in Japan.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Area is packed with attractions andfamous places to see.

You won’t believe how much sightseeing there is to do in this city!



This time the ICC Talk ＆ Visit will focus on the Marunouchi and Nihonbashi

area which has always been the center of Japanese buniness and high class

shopping.



We begin with a meeting in the faculty lounge where a Tokyo specialist will

tell us about surprising out-of-the-way places and background facts to help

us enjoy the sights from a different perspective.



Afterwards we’ll divide into small groups and walk through the Marunouchi

and Nihonbashi area. We’ll start at the historical Imperial Palace, then head

to the newly restored Tokyo station built during the Taisho era and then

finish at the long-established department stores in Nihonbashi. We’ll also

visit the uniquely Japanese department store basements (depachika) where

various foods are sold.



Students who maybe familiar or unfamiliar with Tokyo, international students

or Japanese students, everybody is welcome! See a new side of the city!

club-style of this program means that each time you can continue chatting with

Maybe you have heard about the ICC before, but attending ICC events by

yourself seems a little bit challenging…

especially for new Toyama students who’ve just started university.

For students like you and other’s who usually study at Toyama Campus,

there will be an event to support your ICC debut!



The ICC will visit Toyama Campus and hold an event called

“ICC @ Toyama campus:

　What is the ICC? ～International & Cross-Cultural Exchange at Waseda～”

It is a combination of the ICC Welcome Cafe and Language Hour.

You can join and leave anytime you like during this event.



At the ICC Welcome Cafe event, upper class students and ICC student staff

will talk about their experiences at the ICC as participants and supporters.

Please bring any questions regarding the ICC and your campus life!



For the Language Hour, you have only one rule: use the designated language

to enjoy chatting and meeting new people! The session will be coordinated

by a student who is a fluent speaker of the target language.

This time, you can choose the language from English, Spanish, or Korean.



Toyama students and students who haven’t joined any ICC events before

are especially welcome! Of course, international students and students

from the other campuses are encouraged to join, too.
