What attracted you to come to Japan for study?

What do you think are the most appealing, interesting, and good points about

this country?

What would you say to introduce the country where you studied abroad when

explaining to your family and friends back home?

There are over 4,000 international students from 90 different countries enrolled

at Waseda University. Make use of these diverse points of view and prepare for

a battle of ideas.

Let’s rediscover Japan together through these three themes!

(1) Differences between Japan’s culture and customs and

  those of other countries

(2) Japan’s good and interesting points that you want people

  from other countries to know

(3) Japan’s good and interesting points from the non-Japanese

  person’s perspective

For those who are interested in the ICC’s events but find they just don’t fit

into their schedules, this program will be perfect because it’s done online,

and so time and place is up to you.

Students who will be out of Japan during the summer holiday, including those

who have just finished their study abroad at Waseda, are also welcome to join!

If you think that an online only program might be lacking, then those who are

interested can also meet up with the other project members in the Fall Term for

an offline discussion session.

Two sessions will be held in Japanese, but don’t worry if your Japanese isn’t

perfect. This project will be have a friendly atmosphere, and if there is something

you cannot express well in Japanese, you are also allowed to add a few English

comments in the Japanese sessions as well.

If you prefer to do this project in English,

check the 3rd session: August 15 (Wed) – August 21 (Tue)!

【Project Outline】

Discuss a designated theme online for a week, up to 3 different times (3 weeks)

if you prefer. The online discussion will visible to general public, and the results

of the ideas coming from these discussions will be rated by project members and

Dentsu observers, and select ideas might be used in the actual Japan promotion

project designed by Dentsu for public offices or private enterprises.

【Online tools to be used】

The system used for the online idea battle will be a specialized American social

networking service called Spigit. Participants will be free to give ideas and

comments related to the designated theme, with those ideas and comments

each being rated by others through a “Like” or “Dislike” button system. The

results will be automatically counted and posts or ideas will be ranked based

on the most likes attained, with the ranking visible to all members.
