The following is a list of the main types of events and programs that the ICC organizes. This list is not exhaustive however; new ideas for events from students that don't fit into these categories are often adopted.
A specific country or region's culture is introduced through a variety of events and activities.
Held twice a year in April and September to coincide with the arrival of new international students to Waseda, the Japanese Festival introduces Japanese culture from a variety of angles.
Held irregularly to showcase select regions of Japan.
A casual event where participants freely discuss a chosen topic in a relaxed environment over a cup of tea or coffee.
Brush up your languages skills at the Language Hour, where participants speak in a select language like Chinese, French or Spanish. Proposals for new languages are always welcome!
Language and Cultural Exchange Program
The ICC will help you find an exchange partner who is interested in learning your language and culture!
Participants from all academic disciplines discuss various issues together with guest speakers.
Talk & Visit
After holding a talk session on a topic of interest, participants then pay a visit to a place related to that topic.
Take a trip with international and local students to places of cultural and historic interest around Japan. Make new friends, and learn more about Japan at the same time! (one day and longer trips planned).
Basketball, volleyball, futsal, badminton, table tennis and more! Fun tournaments for players of all levels.
We screen all types of films from around the world, often accompanied by commentary from a guest speaker.
University Sports Viewing
Information (and sometimes even free tickets!) about University sporting teams' matches.
Opportunities to meet with visiting students from overseas partner universities, including participating in campus tours and discussion sessions on different topics.
Meet fellow Waseda students from different campuses.
International and local students pair up and visit elementary, junior and senior high schools to promote cross-cultural understanding through interaction and introduction of foreign culture.
